About Straitline^® Canvas

Straitline^® Canvas is a Palmerston North-based family business. Started in August 1975 by father and son duo Colin and Mike Currie, Straitline^® began as a general canvas manufacturer, selling to transport companies and farmers in the Manawatu. In the 1990s, Straitline^® focused increasingly on the commercial and house markets, selling side curtains, tarpaulins, shade sails, patio blinds and more. Mike’s sons Ken and Patrick joined the business in the early 2000s, starting a shift towards Transport products and a New Zealand-wide focus.

Now, Straitline^® is the lower North Island’s leading manufacturer of transport textile products, including side curtains, tarpaulins, roll over covers, and thermal barriers. We have a wide range of parts and accessories, available for same day dispatch from our base in Palmerston North. We're also the leading manufacturer in the Manawatu-Wanganui region for patio blinds and shade sails. Our focus is on finding ways to make your life easier.
